Olivienne and I will be flying out to Kansas City next week for a trip to visit family and friends. It's my grandmother's 80th birthday and I can't wait to see the whole family. I'm so excited to be able to go, but I'm a little nervous flying with the little one for the first time. Here's hoping that it won't end up with both of us crying on the plane -- her from any number of things babies cry about, and me, well, me from the stress of trying desperately to soothe her lest the plane full of annoyed strangers decide to hurl their free peanuts at us. Though thinking about it, I doubt the peanut scenario would actually happen -- for one, I can hope that among them there are parents themselves who can sympathize, and two, the free peanuts will likely be the only thing we'll all get to eat on the 4 hour flight.Another exciting thing that has happened lately in regards to the baby is that she finally got accustom to being in her swing. YES. I like to think I just wore her down and she had no other choice but to relent. This feat may sound like such a silly, simple little thing, but NO, it is not. I assure you, having her not kick and scream like a little banshee in the swing has now saved my biceps from growing to unsightly and unladylike proportions. I took off the three mobile owls and replaced them with little origami boxes that seem much more stimulating, and less creepy, to look at. I mean really, who wants to stare at owls? Might as well put clowns up there. And so, she swings. And I get to eat with the use of both hands again. It's the little things really.
And the final thing I've discovered about Olivienne this week is that she shares with us her affinity for Law & Order. When she hears that wonderfully familiar tune, her eyes widen and her head tilts towards the tv. Maybe it's because she heard that classic 'dun-dun' so often while she was in utero. Maybe it's because she still hears that dun-dun all the time when she's nursing. Or maybe it's because an episode is on at any given hour of any given day, and yes I'll find it, thanks to the miracle programmings of TNT and USA and NBC. It may be safe to predict 'In the criminal justice system' will be her first words.
So enjoy this slew of new pictures from our future detective.
Here we are watching... guess which show.
The verdict is in -- guilty of adorability.
Ready to crash on the couch with Daddy
Up to get some PJs on
And they're both out
Cuddling with Tita Patty
Livvy was so content in her arms. Come back to play and visit soon Tita Patty!
With Uncle Jakob. If you're good, he'll bring you lots of cool things from Sweden. Okay maybe not, but he can at least translate things for you at IKEA. Good enough!
Yawwwwwwwwwwn
She reminds me of a baby seal. She just kept wiggling her upper body but not moving her arms at all. It cracked us up. Until she started getting mad of course.
And this one, well, it just makes me laugh. I believe she was getting her poop on. Score.
Genevieve,
I'm so excited you are coming in town! I know some others who are even more excited!!
You know that mattress you got when you were pregnant, where did you get it? I'm having major problems sleeping already!
Hope we are able to get to see you!
Take care,
Jen
