It just doesn't seem that long ago that we said our 'I do's' under that beautiful olive tree in Napa Valley. Together, we've been through so much already -- traveling halfway around the world twice, my back surgery, 3 times packing and unpacking our things, gaining 3 dogs then giving away those 3 dogs, Mick changing out my IV bags at home while I was pregnant (awwwww), and the thrilling arrival of little Olivienne -- just to name a few major milestones. We've definitely had our ups and our downs throughout those times, moments when we'd look at each other and marvel lovingly, "Wow, I married you" and moments when we'd look at each other and angrily mutter, "Wow, I married you." Through hard work, tears, laughter, smiles, hugs, kisses, apologies and forgivenesses, we are still a wonderful 'we'.
Because we traveled to Europe as our anniversary present to ourselves, we decided to play it lowkey on this actual day. Lola Susan flew in this afternoon just for the night to pick up Veronica to take her back for 'Summercamp in Kansas'. It's crazy hot there so I hope she packed a swimsuit! Mick came home early to prepare a truly delicious dinner -- sizzling Korean beef steak, sauteed garlic zucchini and squash, and mixed rice pilaf -- it's my new favorite meal. We then took advantage of our awesome built-in babysitter for the night and watched our first 3D movie in a looooooong time, UP. (It's really very cute, we both highly recommend it.) And nothing, I mean nothing, tops off a perfect anniversary night than getting pulled over by the Redmond police. Awww, happy anniversary guys, here's a ticket for an illegal right turn (In full disclosure, I suggested Mick to make the turn, and the great husband he is, he obliged. I really didn't see the sign OR the cop sitting there. Really.)
Oh well, we'll always remember this anniversary!
